In late January, a collapse of the vertical wall behind 6519 Edloe occurred.  City officials notified Harris County Flood Control District (HCFCD) personnel of this most recent failure.  HCFCD personnel recently visited Southside Place and inspected the concrete failure at several points along Poor Farm Ditch behind Edloe residential homes.

From September 2002 to March, 2004, the HCFCD, Southside Place, and neighboring cities participated in a study that identified and provided several recommendations for Poor Farm Ditch reconstruction and improvements.  Several million dollars of county funding is needed to replace this 50+ year structure.

During the February 13 city council meeting, a dozen Edloe and other Southside Place residents discussed the concrete failures with city council.

Concrete debris along Poor Farm Ditch between University and Bellaire Boulevard is now causing an obstruction and preventing flow via the ditch.

Please find attached a sample letter in which residents have used in contacting county officials including commissioner Steve Radack, Art Storey, Jr, and Michael Talbott concerning the urgency of Poor Farm Ditch improvements.
