City in a City: Community Identity and Houston's Sprawl

Wednesday, October 11, 2017

Southside Place will be one of five communities featured in a class this fall at the Glasscock School of Continuing Studies entitled "City in a City: Community Identity and Houston's Sprawl." The class will explore a selection of towns and developments in and around Houston, and why some were swallowed up by annexation while others retained a distinct and independent identity. In addition to the cities of Southside Place and Bellaire, historic Harrisburg and Houston Heights (both of which were annexed into Houston), and River Oaks will be featured. Author and Southside resident Kate McCormick will speak about Southside Place. The six-week course will be held on Wednesday evenings from 7-8:30pm beginning October 4th on the Rice campus.
