PARK, PLAYGROUND, AND TENNIS COURT NEWS
The Southside Place Park Association and Southside Place Fire Truck Park Fund held a special voting meeting on April 1 at 7 PM. Members present voted 49-0 to transition into a city operated park department. A tax increase of 2 cents will be needed to maintain only current park operations beginning in October, 2012. The operating budget of the park department is anticipated at

Last May, the city amended the noise ordinance to include leaf blowers. Nonresidents can use gas or electric leaf blowers from 8 AM - 4 PM Monday - Friday. WATER/WASTEWATER RATE INCREASE TAKES EFFECT WITH APRIL, 2012 BILLING
On February 10, 2009, city council approved a five year water/wastewater plan and recommendation report based upon a cost of service and rate design study by Water Resources Management. Each year, the City of Houston increases surface water charges for Southside Place and other municipalities as a result of their own rate study. Southside Place is required to purchase 80% of our annual water from Houston. All residential, commercial, and industrial customer rates will increase. Residential water rates will increase from $ 4.87 to $ 5.01 per thousand. Residential wastewater rates will increase from $ 4.51 to $ 4.64 per thousand. Winter averaging will be used for wastewater rates. Commercial water rates will increase from $ 4.03 per to $ 4.16 per thousand. Construction of an emergency generator is underway at the water plant. Some $228,000 of federal grant funding was awarded to the city. | Welcome to the City of Southside Place
Southside Place is a residential and commercial area, with its residential streets alphabetized. Its Boundaries run north to University and south to Grammercy, then east from Edloe, west to the 4200 block of Bellaire with Auden as the west edge of the alphabetized streets, with Fire Truck Park, clubhouse, pool and softball field in the middle. Southside Place with only 430 homes and 1,530 residents, has managed to keep its small town, family oriented atmosphere even when some of the surrounding areas have gone "big city." Southside Place has its own mayor, city manager, five council members, a police chief, a Police Department and a volunteer fire department. |
